UNDERSTANDING COMMISSIONS

I have added a page called the "Commission Process" under Ordering Info. If you've ever wondered what it woud be like, this page explaines in a nutshell how a typical commission might work... It's not that scary. As long as you are fairly confident about what you want, we can confer, sketch, and collaberate to come up with something great for that special intimate space you have or something you can build a room around. Questions answered for free.
What's in a name?
My last name is pronounced rou'-tee. Rhymes with pouty. It is of German derivation. Jon or Jack? My given name is Jon Michael Route but like JFK, I'm usually called by my nick-name, Jack. Just don't call me late for dinner, yuk, yuk.

JON MICHAEL ROUTE ARTIST - METALSMITH
My newest works are flat-panel metal wall pieces and 3-D sculptural wall pieces. They make use of richly colored heat induced patinas and textures, on pewter, copper, brass and bronze and aluminum. Combining several metals allows for a playful interchange of colors, textures and compositions.

Top of page: 3" tile Variation, 21"h x 48"w copper and brass. Just above, new work: Leaf Mosaic, 18" x 18" also available in other sizes.
Check out: WORKS >Wall Pieces above and my new page on the Commission Process, under ORDERING INFO. |

HOT TEA! 12th Biennial Exhibition at Craft Alliance
An invitational exhibition of innovative teapots made of clay, metal, glass and fiber. The teapot shape has been investigated by artists for centuries, challenging both the functional and non-functional concept of the form. Over 50 artists have been invited to continue this exploration in Hot Tea, the 12th Biennial exhibit celebrating the teapot and its various artistic configurations.
Exhibition runs January 12th though February 28, 2010 at the Del Mar Loop location. More info at www.CraftAlliance.org
